Hat or Not: 25 Fitted Hats a Day, One Swipe Each

Hat or Not is the third daily game on Hatlock Holmes, after The Lineup and Cop, Keep, Drop. It launched on October 10. Every day at midnight Eastern, a new deck of 25 New Era fitteds goes up, and everyone gets the same 25 in the same order. Swipe right if you’d wear it. Swipe left if you wouldn’t. Play today’s deck.

Finally, a dating app with standards.

Three swipe cards under the words Hat or Not: a Red Sox palm-print cap stamped Not, a Carolina Panthers cap stamped Hat, and the next card face down with 23 to go
Right if you’d wear it. Left if you wouldn’t.

How It Works

Each cap gets one call:

Calls are final, so go with your first reaction. When you finish all 25, you see:

Every cap links to its deal, and one tap saves all your hats to your Watchlist.

Sharing and Keep Swiping

Share your deck turns your 25 calls into a five-by-five grid of 🧢 and ❌. The caps themselves aren’t shown. A shared deck looks like this:

After the deck, Keep swiping shuffles the rest of the deals board, minus the 25 you just saw and anything you’ve already swiped that day. Those extra swipes stay on your device. They aren’t sent anywhere or counted in the results.

How Each Deck Is Picked

Decks are scheduled a week ahead and don’t change once they’re set. Each one has 8 MLB caps, 6 NFL, 5 NBA, 4 NHL and 2 from the minor leagues, with one cap per team. If a league is short on teams with deals, the other leagues fill its spots.

Caps come from stores across the deals board, not just New Era. The October 10 deck came from 12 stores. Three kinds of caps are left out on purpose:

What Gets Sent

When you finish the deck, your 25 calls go to the results counter. That’s all that’s sent: no name, no account, no sign-up. Results stay hidden until enough players have finished that day’s deck, so a cap can’t show 100% after two votes. Your own calls are always included in what you see. The privacy page has the details.

  • Hat San Antonio Missions, Copa de la Diversión 59FIFTY at Prociety, $15.00 (was $41.99). $15 for a cap that brought its own fiesta.
  • Not Dallas Cowboys, Tonal Florals White 59FIFTY at New Era, $27.49 (was $49.99). Florals? In October? Groundbreaking.
  • Hat Calgary Flames, Walnut 59FIFTY at USA Cap King, $45.00 (was $55.00). Walnut is the color of a good desk.
  • Not Las Vegas Raiders, 2023 NFL Draft On Stage 59FIFTY at Coliseum Sports, $34.99 (was $49.99). A 2023 draft cap still waiting to be picked.
  • Hat Chicago Cubs, New Era x Alpha Industries 59FIFTY at Burdeens Chicago, $25.00 (was $49.99). A flight-jacket brand made a Cubs cap. At half off, it lands.
