The Discount Depth Index: Which Fitted Hat Stores Actually Cut the Deepest

Every store on this site claims to be running a sale. That much is true by definition, it is the whole reason they made the list. What none of them advertise is how deep the cut actually goes on average, night after night, across their whole sale rack rather than the one hero deal on the homepage banner. So I pulled the numbers myself. As of this morning's feed, 3,759 fitted hats were listed as on sale across 28 of our 37 partner stores, and I ran the math on every single one: sale price against original price, store by store.

The results were not close.

Every store with at least 20 live sale hats on July 13, ranked by average discount. Stores with smaller sale racks are left out to avoid noisy averages.

The Deepest Cutters

Among stores carrying at least 20 live sale hats right now, Hat Heaven leads the pack with an average discount of 63.6% off across 105 hats. Not a single best-case deal, the average. Right behind is Anthem Shop at 58.8% off, then Prociety at 54.1% off across a much larger sample of 219 hats. That last part matters. It is easy to average 60% off when you only have 20 hats on sale. Prociety is doing it over more than two hundred.

A sample of what that looks like on the shelf: a Bruins Black 50th Anniversary 59FIFTY at Hat Heaven is $14.99, down from $53.99, a 72.2% cut. A Los Angeles Angels Orange Forest Cord cap at Sports Treasures is the same $14.99 against a $54.99 tag. And the single steepest cut in the entire feed today belongs to So Fresh Clothing, where an Oakland A's Sunset Script fitted is $9.99, down from $49.99. That is 80% off a licensed 59FIFTY. I checked it twice.

The Minor League Wildcard

Special mention to the MILB Store, which lands mid-table on average at 38.1% off across 136 hats, but is quietly hiding some of the steepest individual markdowns anywhere. A run of Round Rock Express novelty caps, including a 2023 Marvel's Defenders of the Diamond on-field cap, are down to $10.00 from $45.00, a 77.8% cut. Minor league promo caps seem to depreciate faster than anything else I track, likely because the market for a specific theme night from two seasons ago is exactly as large as the number of people who were at that specific game.

The Manufacturer Problem

Here is the part that surprised me most. New Era's own site, the actual manufacturer, sits at an average of just 32.6% off across a massive 798 hats on sale, good for 16th out of the 18 stores on this list. That is below Hat Club (43.1%), below Burdeens Chicago (42.7%), and even below Hat Dreams (35.6%), the store with the next-largest sale rack after New Era's own. A Rockies Ripstop Camo A-Frame fitted there is $36.39 against a $55.99 tag, a real discount, just not a category-leading one. Owning the factory apparently does not mean owning the deepest markdown. Third-party retailers clearing older inventory to make room for new arrivals are simply more motivated sellers than the brand that set the original price.

The Floor

At the other end sits Pro Image America, averaging just 15.9% off across 59 hats, the lowest of any store with a meaningful sample. Its "sale" section leans heavily on current-season city edition caps, like a 2025/26 Celtics City Edition 59FIFTY at $48.99 down from $55.00. That is a legitimate 10.9% off a hat that is still brand new this season, not a clearance item. Nothing wrong with that, it just means Pro Image America is a mall-store operation working current stock, not a clearance house working through last year's shelf. Different business, different math.

What This Means For You

If you are hunting for the single deepest possible cut on a specific team, start with Hat Heaven, Anthem Shop, and Prociety and work down the list. If you want current-season styles at a modest but real discount, Pro Image America and New Era's own site are your best bet, since their sale racks skew newer. And if you do not care what team is on the hat and just want the cheapest 59FIFTY money can buy, go straight to the MiLB novelty rack.
